Makes about 8 dozen cookies (they go fast!)
Ingredients:
1 cup softened shortening (or butter)
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon water (or more)
2 eggs
2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Beat shortening or butter, sugars, vanilla, water and eggs until light and fluffy.
Mix flour with soda and salt; blend into shortening mixture.
Drop heaping teaspoons 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets.
Bake at 375° F for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown. (Especially edges and bottom)
Let cool and enjoy! ♡
Notes:
The secret to this recipe is to be generous with the water. Adding a little extra water helps them stay really soft even days after baking.
You can also add chocolate chips, nuts, M&Ms, brownies, any candy that works in a cookie. Use a whole packet, or halve recipe using 1 cup chips.
Do not consume raw cookie dough! The raw eggs pose a risk to your health, as well as the flour. WebMD article
